lived there for 32 years, born and bread Capetonian,
I left because of crime and few prospects for myself and family.
I have had 2 cars stolen, been mugged once, appartment burgaled, good friend shot and killed (for R200), two friends of my wife gang ***** at knifepoint etc. etc. etc.
Please note:
people who promote South Africa on this forum and don´t warn you about crime are irresponsible.

No. Too much crime and I value my life more than a cheap holiday home.
ill be sure to check it out.my wife and i are going to SA for a holiday.im south african and she is german.we were in that area about 3 years ago and we loved it.

To “turniton5″. Whilst I appreciate your views on South Africa, it would be great and more fair should you point out that crime is not just limited to South Africa! It is no worse here than what it is the rest of the world, i.e. USA, UK, choose your country and you are going to find it! We are all entitled to our views, but PLEASE do not try and force your disgust down the throats of people who ask a decent question and deserves a decent answer. Can you with all honesty say that wherever it is that you reside there is NO crime?
