I’d rather stay in a smaller establishment with good personable service and a lot of character as opposed to a large 4-5 star hotel…I’m having a hard time finding anything that isn’t a hostel. Also, a google search of “B&B Mexico DF” (no quotes in the search) will give you a pretty nice list of choices.
I recommend staying in Roma, Condesa, or Coyoacan, as the areas are nice and the prices are reasonable, generally. If, however, money is not an issue, opt for something in Polanco or Las Lomas.
